This hand embroidered silver piece was created for a bespoke private project in collaboration with Sarah Burghard Designs. Completed in Spring 2022, it was created to add a special finishing touch to a luxury boudoir. Measurements: 12” Circumference.

Inspired by a bracelet of great sentimental value to the client, we developed the design from my drawings informed by the shapes and flow of the piece of jewellery, and to reflect the contemporary feel of the room created this abstract design of circular overlapping motifs.

After exploring a variety of ways we could create flow and shine with metal threads, we chose to elevate the preciousness of the piece and its important meaning with a more technical and traditional approach to metal thread work, building up layers of silver threads with intricate hand stitching in a bricking pattern, using couching embroidery techniques which date back to at least the 1300’s, combining a deep love of the heritage of my craft with a passion for exploring a fresh approach to metal thread work. The embroidery forms the basis of a repeat pattern developed by Sarah for the curtains of the project.
